They Remember Me, I Don't Remember Them
SUBTITLES
Why is it that hearing people always remember me when they see me some years later? In return I do not remember some of them at all.
We Deafies must be special somehow?
I know it has to do with my deafness....would you agree? If I wasn't deaf and not using sign language, many of them wouldn't remember me.
Or our odd voices make us unforgettable to many????

I remember you too!!!
I am usually the one who remembers everyone. If I met you, I will know you years from now. I run into my past students even years later and I always remember their names. They are usually amazed that I remember them. It is just a thing I do.
Some people have it, some people don't. I use to think the reason I remember everything is because I relay on visual cues. I have great observation skills. I can remember a room and people after one visit. I also remember habits and favorites of people. No one remembers I love Dr. Pepper and my favorite candy is cherry toostie rolls.
Lane remember you have that unforgettable face!!! Cutie Pie!!
That happens to me *all* the time- hearing people that I haven't seen in eons would remember me, especially after I said something (I have a deaf voice). Most of the time they tend to be people that I went to school with, and with that, I could see why. I was often the only deaf student there, so of course you're not gonna forget that.
But unfortunately...there are some deaf people that remember me better than I remember them- I'm talking about deaf people I met *one time* at some conference or whatever years ago, and they come up to me and say "remember me?" (which gets annoying if they act insulted if I didn't.)
Valerie and Bernannm,
Val, I see what you mean when you rely on visuals. For students, if you could remember many of their names when you see them again I would assume they were all troublemakers in your classroom? No one remembers good students. I could be wrong? JK
For me toward hearing people, I think hearing people do not show anything facials or use their hands enough(to talk)...just plain looks on them and that's too common so I wouldn't remember them.
I may have a chance to recognize the hearings quicker if they used sign lanugage like they did years back.
I could remember deaf faces pretty well but am poor with names
I remember you because you were running around naked! Ha-ha just kidding!
Yes it has to do with deafness and ASL!
I am contract design engineer meaning I work for company at a agreement of job duration (length) so I tend to work for many aircraft companies between 3 months to 2+ years and the engineering world is so small (just like deaf world). Often I start new job over there and I get few people coming up and say "hey, how you have been?" I say "Did we met before?", they say "yeah from other company in specific city/state". It is just like a WOW!
Kathy, you normally do good job on your assignments?? you know usually if one do bad jobs, they are not forgotten by many.
True about ASL, can't miss when one uses it.
So you are an engineer? Good to know you more now. I have a friend that has similiar length of assignments as yours. Interior Designer. Thanks for your comment here.
Well, I can understand where Kathy's coming from. I'm remembered for doing a good job. I went to a job fair recently, and a woman came up to me and called me by my name, asked me how I was doing, and I'm like, "do I know you? I can't remember you" When she told me her name and where she used to work, I was like, "Oh yeah, NOW I remember you! You still remember me? Cool." I guess I'm famous in this small little town. She used to be the HR person for the company I used to work for, and now she was the HR person in a different company.
Most of the time, I never forget a face, but I often forget names. Sometimes I remember names better than faces. I guess it depends on the situation. I also have an unforgettable face :-)
Kathy, if you are here again...just now I read my comment to you and realized I didn't add that I was kidding about the first part of my comment...so pls take that note, my friend.
Roselil, it's great if anyone is remembered by someone who works as a HR...good way to get a job.
I still find it interesting when someone could remember both my name and face after many years. I wish I have this magic to remember everyone.
Thanks for coming over here.

Are you from Arizona?
Is your friend (interior designer) Deaf? What kind of interior designing work does she/he do? It is so rare to see Deaf contractor (designing/engineering in aerospace industries).
Im so good at making paper planes and thats why everyone knew me, smile (just kidding)
Kathy, yes she's Deaf...actually I think she stopped working some time ago...she's a new mother now.
I read your original comment again, I think your length of assignments are lot longer than hers, hers was like up to two weeks to a month.
I don't remember the word, she designed/remodeled the lounges mainly in hotels.
About paper planes, I remember me or someone else in my family getting my nephew a book of how to create diff kinds of paperplanes for christmas or birthday...I'll have to check to see if he's done any.
